Retired miner Mr William John Connolly (62), of Little John Close, Ollerton, was cremated at Sherwood Forest crematorium, Boughton, after a service at St Joseph’s RC Church, New Ollerton. Born at Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland, and educated there at St Bernadette’s School, Mr Connolly lived locally for 33 years. A miner at Bevercotes Colliery, he retired 12 years ago. He enjoyed playing dominoes for Boughton Social Club, doing crosswords, reading and spending time with his family. Mr Connolly, who died at King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton, leaves his wife, Mrs Josephine Connolly, four sons, James, William, Joseph and Steven, daughters-in-law Sharon and Sarah and his granddaughter, Jodie. Mourners were Mrs J. Connolly, Mr James Connolly, Mr W. Connolly, Mr Joseph Connolly, Mr S. Connolly, Mrs Sharon Connolly, Mrs Sara Connolly, Miss Jodie Connolly, Miss A. M. O’Shea, Miss H. Dobb, Master A. Dobb, Mr and Mrs J. Craig, Mrs R. Law, Mrs C. Bett, Mrs H. Rooney, Mrs B. Harris, Miss C. Bett, Mr W. Bett, Mr J. Bett, Mr and Mrs M. Aked; Mrs M. Stamp (representing Mr P. Stamp), Mr T. Rodway, Mr G. Squires, Mr G. O’Shea, Mr P. O’Shea, Mr S. Rickets, Mr and Mrs R. Grout; Mrs Farnworth (representing Farnworth family); Theresa (representing John and family, Helen and Billy); Cath and Graham (representing Mr and Mrs McKay, Fife), Mr and Mrs J. Ward, Mrs E. Comerford; Mrs McGinley (representing family), Mr and Mrs V. Wobschall, Mr and Mrs Kirkpatrick. Floral tributes were from the family and donations totalling £150, were fro Cancer Research. The service was conducted by Fr P. Holland, and arrangements were by New Ollerton Co-operative Funeralcare.
