Report this message By a shy admirer on 24 Feb 2010i would like to offermy final tribute to colin, with the hope and aim you may glean some atom of comfort from it someday, if needed.
a famous, brave lady once sighed:
"grief is the price you pay for love".
for, when someone you love has died
your world gets one almighty shove.
'x' amount of time elapses,
and you may begin to feel, at last,
that agonising, emotional rawness
of your abject grief has passed.
yet down it can pounce, from out of the blue,
and you cry "will this pain ever end?"
but these 'grief reactions' can heal you,
'though it's hard to think teardrops can mend.
some say that there is a heaven.
some say the beyond is a void.
bereavement can make you cynical,
even render your faith alloyed...
but then, perchance...
one night, you're dining with your bon viveurs,
or maybe...
perusing a gallery of art,
and you'll find colin was with you,
throughout all those tears;
he's sitting, right there, in your heart.
there are statues in mowbray park of three well-deserving sons of sunderland: general havelock; john candlish, mp; and jack crawford, hero of camperdown. to me, great indeed though these men were, colin harrison outshone them all.
he filled your heart with love, fun and happiness every day.
he cheered you up instantly with that warm, fabulous smile.
he was one of the greatest peoplewe were ever lucky enough to meet.
he was the starman.
but above all, he was just a really good lad.
peace be with you all.
Report this message By a shy admirer on 20 Feb 2010you may be gone,
but i'll never forget,
my best fun began
the first day we met.
and i could eulogise forever,
only, i can hear your warm voice say:
"all ships are safe in their harbour,
cast off,andlive for the day".
with fondest memories

a bright lovely star,
a great northern light,
much idolised near and far.
my finest teacher,
by far and wide,
the party's happening where you are.
thank you, colin.
