Life-long local resident Mr George Albert Woodward (85), of Huthwaite, was cremated at Mansfield after a service at the crematorium chapel.
The ashes of Mr Woodward, who died at King’s Mill Hoispital, Sutton, were later buried in the family grave at Huthwaite cemetery.
Born at Barker Street, Huthwaite, Mr Woodward was educated locally at New Street Primary and Huthwaite Road Secondary schools.
During his working life Mr Woodward had worked at the local colliery, hosiery factory, railway and then latterly for the local council until he retired.
He enjoyed walking and socialising at The Peacock with friends and family.

Weaver, Mr R. Brunt, Ms J. Edwards, Mrs S. Marriott, Mrs A. Eades, Miss P. Whetton, Mr B. Whiting, Mr D. Bunting, Mr and Mrs B. Woodfield, Mr M. Bennett, Mr J. Ryde, Mrs E. Baker.
Floral tributes and donations to the British Heart Foundation were received from family and friends.
The service was conducted by the Rev M. Dilley, and arrangements were by K. Gregory & Sons Ltd.
